MILLWALL fell short thanks to a Winston Reid volley despite being a man up for 80 minutes of a disappointing derby for boss Kenny Jackett.

Hammers skipper Kevin Nolan saw red in just the ninth minute for a two-footed tackle on Jack Smith.

But if anything the extra man seemed to hinder the visitors, who might have conceded more than Carlton Cole's header - scored 20 seconds before the break - in the first half.

But just three minutes later, Reid rifled into an empty net after the ball had landed handily for him from David Forde's punch on O'Brien's long punt back into the box.

Replays showed Forde had been fouled by Julien Faubert as he cleared, but referee Mick Jones did not see an infringement and did not change his mind even after he had watched a replay on the big screen.
